Segment 1 – Clear Cedar Siding
Welcome back. For those of you looking for custom ideas and unique creativity, come take a look at some of the features we have in our custom homes. Here we are on the exterior of the building seeing one application for siding. In this particular case, we’re talking about a rainscreen application. First, we’re starting all the way from the beginning. Once the building has been coated in plywood, that CDX or OSB, we’ve got the exterior sheeting or sheer created for the building. The next step is going to be to install the vapor shield, that’s the exterior waterproof membrane. In this particular case, we’re using a vapor shield product that is black in color. We’re going to apply that as a self adhere membrane to the building. It allows the building to breathe and there’s a lot of airflow going on through that vapor shield. The next component we’re going to install is the bat. This is a half-inch bat that runs vertically on top of the vapor shield. The final component is to install the clear cedar siding. This is a five-quarter by four clear cedar attached with stainless steel nails and is a beautiful aesthetic. This is phenomenal craftsmanship, very detailed, it is a beautiful addition to a custom home.
